Plume Takes Flight and opens in West Heights on Friday, July 26. The high-energy cocktail bar with a tapas-style bites menu and chic Art Deco-inspired interiors will occupy a choice location at Braun Enterprises’ recently debuted Urban Office – West Heights redevelopment at W. 22nd and Beall streets.
Plume, named for an ornamental arrangement of feathers, is the first project from Golden Ratio Hospitality Group. This newly formed company includes Braun Enterprises partners Dan Braun and James Fitch, along with Ted Baker, a nearly 30-year veteran in the food and beverage industry. Situated just a quick two-block walk north of the vibrant 20th Street, Plume plans to create a chic atmosphere, promising a sophisticated but approachable experience for both local patrons and visitors.
“Plume is designed to make you feel at home, whether you’re out with friends or on a date,” said Plume co-owner, Ted Baker in a statement. “Our drinks impress with their presentation and quality, while our food provides a unique and approachable twist. There’s truly something for everyone here.”
The cocktail menu features house creations such as the Chili Kissed Avocado Margarita — a creamy and spicy twist on the classic margarita, made with chili oil-washed tequila and avocado cordial with a rim of chamoy and spicy salt. Another highlight is the Rich and Dirty — a luxurious take on the classic dirty martini, fashioned with Kastra Elion Vodka, extra virgin vermouth, and house-made olive brine, shaken and served with a blue cheese-stuffed olive. Alongside these inventive cocktails, Plume offers a curated selection of house shots, classic cocktails like the espresso martini, negroni, and paloma, as well as an extensive wine list and a rotation of seasonal mocktails. Guests can also enjoy a curated lineup of small-bottle and canned beers, a robust selection of fine wines and champagnes, and a variety of sophisticated zero-proof mocktails.
The tapas-style menu is designed to complement the drinks, featuring bites such as Meatballs in Chipotle Ragout with Parmesan — savory meatballs simmered in a smoky chipotle ragout sauce, finished with grated Parmigiano Reggiano. Another must-try is the Bacon-Wrapped Dates Stuffed with Stilton —sweet dates stuffed with rich blue cheese, wrapped in crispy bacon for a blend of sweet, savory, and salty flavors. For those with a sweet tooth, the menu includes options like Chocolate and Hazelnut Pot-de-Crème and an oversize chocolate cookie.
The interiors of Plume have been envisioned by interior designer Bradford Collier of B.W. Collier Interior Design of Houston. The space features sleek lines, bold geometrics, touches of gold, and feather motifs, creating an atmosphere of sophisticated luxury. Guests will enter through a large gold door opening to a striking peacock art installation with a neon sign illuminating the name “Plume.” The walls are adorned with a motif of peacock feathers in baroque teal and metallic gold.
Upon entering the 3,000 square foot space, guests will find the bar area to their right, a space seating 45 guests, furnished with four cocktail tables accompanied by plush blue velvet chairs and a striking red velvet banquette. To the left, the lounge area beckons with its own red velvet banquette, stylish green and white striped cocktail tables, and luxurious blue chairs. At the room’s rear, a raised semi-private area awaits, featuring zebra-patterned carpet, additional cocktail tables, and a cozy banquette, providing an intimate setting for 50 guests. The eclectic and modern decor, highlighted by terrazzo flooring, ties the entire space together in a seamless fusion of modern cool meets Old Hollywood chic. The ambiance extends to Plume’s climate-controlled, 400-square-foot patio, designed for 25 guests with soft seating that combines a sophisticated, loungey atmosphere.
Plume is located at 1100 W 23rd St, Houston, TX 77008 and will be open Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 4 p.m. to midnight, Thursday through Saturday 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. and closed Monday. Valet and street parking are available.
