Loft 18, a popular sports bar in Houston, closed its location at 2313 Edwards Street on January 1, 2026. In an official statement, the bar cited economic pressures and rising crime in the area as reasons for the closure. The Loft 18 team stated that the bar’s Louisiana locations will continue to operate.

Loft 18 Says Goodbye to Houston Community

Loft 18, one of the local favorite sports bars, said farewell to the Houston community on New Year’s Day. The spot is known for its lively, interactive atmosphere, with a lounge offering golf and multi-sport simulators. It also featured a full bar and a food menu, serving items like burgers, fries, tacos, pizzas, and more.

Through a Facebook post, the bar shared, “January 1, 2026, we close our beloved 2313 Edwards Street location. This decision wasn’t easy, but challenges in the area have guided us toward a brighter future.”

Located on Edward Street, the bar opened in 2019, and since then, it has been a cherished hangout spot for the community. In the post, the bar expressed gratitude to the community members for their support over the years.

“You—our incredible guests and dedicated team—made it truly special. Your smiles, stories, and loyalty have meant everything to us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,” said the team.

The bar is currently looking for a different location to start a new chapter. “We hope to welcome you back in the near future at our new Houston spot! (Currently we are looking at sites in Katy, The Woodlands, Sugarland, etc.),” added the team.

Rising Crime, Market Costs Cited as Reasons

The team behind the bar stated the decision followed careful consideration, adding “challenges like increased crime in the area and rising market costs” have prompted the decision of closure.”

The team also said, “We are scouting new areas that are more suited for our current business model.”

Even though the Houston location is closed, the bar continues to serve at 4 locations in Louisiana. Along with that, the bar also has plans to expand “into Gulf Coast regions and markets.”

While Loft 18’s Edwards Street location has closed, the brand looks ahead to new opportunities. The bar has assured its fans that it will return to the Houston area.
