Salata, the built-to-order salad kitchen that’s been in Houston since 2005, celebrated its grand reopening of its first-ever location in the Downtown Tunnel Loop of the Houston Tunnels at 919 Milam, #T-925. The doors reopened on January 12. Guests can expect a refreshed dining experience and fan-favorite menu items.

The Houston Tunnels location holds special significance as the place where Salata first introduced its innovative build-your-own salad concept 20 years ago. After temporarily closing during the COVID-19 pandemic, the restaurant is now reopening its doors, once again serving downtown professionals seeking fresh, convenient, and healthy meals within the underground network connecting Houston’s office buildings.

“The Houston Tunnels location is where Salata first began, and it holds a special place in our history,” said Sahrina Hammond, Director of Field Operations in a statement. “Reopening here offers both longtime fans and new guests the opportunity to enjoy fresh, customizable meals in a welcoming environment. This year marks Salata’s 20th anniversary, making it especially meaningful to return to our roots and celebrate two decades of serving our guests.”

The Houston restaurant will offer Salata’s signature customizable menu, featuring a wide selection of fresh produce, lean proteins, and made-from-scratch dressings prepared daily in-house. Guests can choose from five salad bases, more than 50 toppings, and 11 proprietary dressings to create their ideal meal. In addition to salads and wraps, the menu includes soups, organic teas, and fresh lemonades. Guests can also order online for pickup or delivery, enjoy catering services, and earn rewards through the Tastemaker Rewards program.

“When we first opened in the Houston Tunnels, our goal was simple: to offer busy downtown professionals a fresh, healthy option they could customize,” said Berge Simonian, Founder of Salata. “Seeing this location reopen 20 years later and knowing how far the brand has come is incredibly rewarding. It’s a reminder that our roots are here in Houston, and this city will always be part of our story.”

Founded in Houston, Salata has grown into a fast-casual franchise with over 100 locations across Texas, Georgia, Southern California, Louisiana, and North Carolina. Known for its customizable salads, wraps, and soups, the brand has built a loyal following by offering healthy, made-to-order options while embracing tech-enabled innovations in the fast-casual space.
