Sapporo Sushi has filed for a permit for a location at 20340 Fort Bend Pkwy Toll Rd #140, Missouri City, TX 77459.
Owner Shunbin Ni was unavailable for comment as of this publishing, so we can only speculate that his restaurant will provide the typical Japanese-style sushi offerings, but with his own twist.
Since coming to Japan in the 8th century, sushi has continually been innovated as it has made its way into Western culture. And as with most sushi restaurants nowadays, sake is available as a great pairing with it. So we can assume the same from Sapporo Sushi as Ni brings the residents of Missouri City his modern take on sushi with traditional methods.
As sushi becomes more and more popular here in the states, we’ve seen an uptick on more restaurants opening with it as the focus. According to IBIS World, just under 20,000 sushi restaurants were open in the US in 2023, which was a 4% increase since 2022. More and more people are trying sushi and accepting raw fish as part of their dinner excursions. That number is only expected to increase in the coming years.
This will be a first-time interior buildout of the space, per the permit on file with the state. The project is estimated to cost $300,000 with a start date in December 2023 and completion in June 2024, which will warrant 3200 square feet.
