RAKKAN Ramen, which features a vegetarian broth in its dishes, is opening a second Houston location.

President of Vondry Enterprises, Christopher Lav, opened the first Houston RAKKAN Ramen location in The Heights. His second location is being planned for 12645 Tomball Pkwy., Ste. 500 in Houston. Lav told What Now Houston that he hopes, if permitting allows, the new location will open by the end of 2022.

Lav is excited about the expansion. “We signed up for 10 locations total.” He is currently looking at possible sites in Sugar Land Town Center, Katy, the Galleria area, and possibly West Chase. The locations aren’t finalized, yet.

“It’s 100% from Japan, so they do have locations in Toyko,” Lav said. “The founder came over here and started franchising out of California.”

Ryohei Ito, founder and CEO of RAKKAN Ramen, first started the Japanese Ramen concept in Toyko in 2011. RAKKAN’s concept slogan is “Healthy and tasty, our ramen is made with 100% plant-based broth,” according to the brand’s website.
