Shipley Do-Nut continues to increase its presence in its founding state with an opening slated for Winter 2026. According to a recently filed permit, the booming donut chain is expected to open a new location at 15623 S. Post Oak Rd. The permit details that construction on the new Shipley Do-Nut is planned to start next May and wrap up in November 2026.

Shipley Do-Nut was founded by Lawrence and Lillie Shipley in Houston in 1936 and has continued to grow ever since. There are now more than 300 franchised Shipley Do-Nut stores sprawled across Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Maryland, and, most recently, Colorado.

What Now Houston did some digging to find out who would be at the helm of the new Shipley Do-nut to open on Post Oak Rd. next winter, but the location was left unclaimed by several franchisee owners we called. What Now Houston spoke to both Shipley Do-nuts, Jason Highers, and Jonathan Massey, who could not confirm who the new franchisee for the location is. While the donut shop looks for a new owner, the brand is revving up for its continued expansion.

Both Massey and Highers confirmed that the new Shipley Do-nut would be coming to Post Oak Rd. next year, and you can expect the same beloved offerings.

“When they bite into that hot donut, it will bring them back every time,” the website reads as a quote from founder Lawrence Shipley.

While the sweets shop may be known for its original Hot Glazed Donut, the sweet offerings don’t stop there. The eatery offers a variety of Iced & Sugar Donuts, Filled Donuts, and of course, Kolaches-just to name a few of the booming donut chain’s delicious offerings.

Though it may be a ways away, Shipley Do-nut lovers can rejoice now, for the new Shipley Do-nut will open at 15623 S. Post Oak Rd by Winter 2026.
