In the ever-evolving landscape of urban development, a delightful transformation is brewing at 3401 Canal Street. Slowpokes, a beloved local coffee chain, is setting its sights on an ambitious project: converting the old Elizalde Tire Shop into its latest freestanding location.

From the permit, What Now Houston has learned that this renovation and alteration project involves an interior overhaul of the existing one-story structure, repurposing it into a coffee shop with an estimated $250,000 budget. Spanning 2,637 square feet, the new Slowpokes location promises an inviting atmosphere where the community can gather, work, and enjoy artisanal coffee and bites. The project includes aesthetic upgrades while keeping to the brand’s commitment to sustainable practices.

Known for its unique blend of cozy ambiance and high-quality, artisanal coffee, Slowpokes has established itself as more than just a place to grab a caffeine fix; it’s a community hub where people from all walks of life converge. What sets Slowpokes apart is its commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, offering a diverse menu that caters to various tastes and dietary preferences. From meticulously crafted espresso drinks to a selection of light bites and pastries, Slowpokes ensures that every visit is a memorable experience. Moreover, the brand has been recognized for its environmentally conscious approach, sourcing sustainable and ethically produced coffee beans, and prioritizing eco-friendly practices in its operations.

The significant makeover is set to start in March 2024, with an estimated completion date in September 2024.
