Soliz Tacos, a name that’s been part of the Houston food scene for four decades, is getting ready to open its next location in Richmond. Co-owners Michael Miller and Eric Otto are continuing the legacy with plans to bring the brand to 11131 Harlem Rd Suite 110, marking the company’s first-ever drive-thru unit.

Eric Otto, the grandson of the original founder, brought the expansion idea to longtime hospitality veteran Michael Miller. “I’ve been in the hospitality industry for 27 years myself,” Miller said. A longtime fan of the brand, he stepped in to help restructure and modernize the business in preparation for broader growth. That effort has included everything from third-party delivery and a new website to a full menu revamp that now features salads, grain bowls, and even hot beverages like the Hot Mexican Mocha.

The Richmond store will also roll out a drive-thru to support what Miller says is already a heavily off-premise model. “About 95% of our business right now is takeout,” he shared. In addition, Soliz Tacos began offering catering at the start of the year and recently launched a loyalty program. A big part of the brand’s identity is still rooted in its customers, with several menu items named after longtime regulars who used to custom-build their own taco orders. That tradition started with the original owner and has carried through the years.

Community connection remains central to the brand. “We try to really focus on community involvement,” Miller said, noting frequent collaborations with non-profits and local restaurants. The Richmond grand opening will reflect that, with 50% of the day’s proceeds being donated to Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry.

After taking time to refine the infrastructure and reopen a second location in the Galleria area, the Richmond store is the third in the lineup, with two more planned for 2026. The broader goal includes 6 to 8 corporate locations in Houston and DFW, with franchising expected to begin by 2026.

Soliz Tacos plans to soft open the Richmond location in mid-August 2025 with a Grand Opening celebration scheduled for September 17, 2025.
