On July 29, the global restaurant chain opened its new outlet inside the iconic Tower Theatre block redevelopment on Westheimer Road. The Montrose restaurant blends bold flavor, artistic design, and sustainable touches in a lively neighborhood setting.

As a part of its Texas expansion, the Montrose location brings Nando’s South African soul to one of Houston’s most vibrant neighborhoods. The 3,538-square-foot space at 1201 Westheimer includes a 467-square-foot patio. A traditional South African mural welcomes visitors, accompanied by a patio shaded by preserved oak trees. Together, these elements create a rare urban retreat that reflects Montrose’s creative and communal vibe.

As the restaurant chain broadens its reach beyond Post Oak and Cinco Ranch, Kimberly Grant, CEO of Nando’s, called Montrose the ideal setting for the brand’s continued Houston expansion.

“Montrose has that perfect mix of culture, energy, and soul—and setting up a beautifully designed space in the iconic Tower Theater block just felt right. We’re fired up to bring our flame-grilled PERi-PERi Chicken to one of the most vibrant corners of Houston.”

Grant further shared thoughts on the new Houston location, “The love Houston has shown us has been incredible, so opening a third Nando’s here felt like the natural next step in our growth.”

Known for its support of South African farmers and artists, Nando’s latest Montrose outlet reflects an emphasis on art. The Montrose restaurant, located at 1201 Westheimer, features custom furnishings and original works by South African artists.

Ashanti light shades, Studio Kalki’s tiled credenza, and hand-crafted booth fabrics add to the aesthetic appeal. A Dokter and Misses custom host stand is another standout item at the new Nando’s location. Other highlights at the Montrose location include 3D cork panels, oak details, plaster textures, decorative metals, and unique tile patterns.

Additionally, collaborating with the Spier Arts Trust through Nando’s Creative Block program, it has added a large-scale, textural installation above the bar.

Sustainability is woven into every detail, from recycled materials to environmentally conscious construction. The countertops are made with recycled refrigerator plastic. Raised decking at the patio safeguards the root systems of the mature post oaks along Mt. Vernon Street. Other sustainable features at the Montrose location include a walkable outdoor and thermally efficient storefront upgrades.
