Houston’s burgeoning coffee scene is about to get a significant boost with Tenfold Coffee Company securing a 5,000-square-foot lease at 3302 Garrow St. in The Plant in Second Ward. This development is part of Concept Neighborhood’s ongoing initiative to revitalize the area, fostering a vibrant, walkable neighborhood teeming with creativity and community spirit.

Renowned for its carefully sourced products and innovative approach, Tenfold currently operates a specialty coffee shop and roastery in Houston’s Heights. The move to The Plant in Second Ward marks a pivotal moment for the company, allowing it to house its roasting operations in a dedicated facility for the first time. Co-Founder Jacob Ibarra expressed his enthusiasm for the East End, citing its industrial nature and historical significance to Houston’s coffee scene as driving factors behind the relocation.

The expansion also paves the way for Tenfold to diversify its offerings, with plans to introduce specialty-minded cold brews and scale up its wholesale operations. Eden Plant Co., situated in the same development, is already among the wholesale clients benefiting from Tenfold’s premium products.

Although the new roastery won’t be public-facing, Tenfold is dedicated to engaging with the community through educational experiences and a neighborhood subscription service. This commitment to community and accessibility aligns seamlessly with Concept Neighborhood’s vision for The Plant in Second Ward, Houston’s first authentic 15-minute neighborhood.

Concept Neighborhood, the force behind this transformative project, continues to attract a diverse array of tenants, including the recent addition of James Beard Award-winner chef Benchawan Jabthong Painter’s “unapologetically Thai” concept, Street to Kitchen. The development is designed to integrate a mix of creative spaces, shops, restaurants, and over 1,000 multifamily units, promoting an inclusive, vibrant atmosphere.

Jeremy Roberts, managing partner of Concept Neighborhood, welcomed Tenfold to the community, highlighting how the coffee company embodies the type of tenants they aim to attract – those who share a commitment to creating an inclusive, walkable corridor that fosters community.

The Plant in Second Ward is a testament to innovative urban development, connecting light rails to bayou trails and repurposing industrial warehouses into hyperlocal retail spaces that reflect the cultural diversity of the Second Ward. This initiative is set to redefine Houston’s approach to urbanism, positioning the city as a leader in developing walkable, community-focused neighborhoods.

Tenfold Coffee’s relocation to this thriving development is not just a step forward for the company, but a symbol of the transformative change brewing in Houston’s Second Ward, contributing to a vibrant, inclusive community that reflects the city’s rich, diverse culture.

Construction is underway and is expected to be complete Fall 2023.
