Texas Borders Bar & Grill, a longtime Katy favorite, is getting ready to open its newest location inside the Cane Island community, offering more than just its signature Cajun and All-American menu. Its newest home will be at 2100 Cane Island Pkwy, Katy, TX 77493.
This marks a new chapter for the family-owned brand, which was started in 1996 by Kellie Messer, a New Orleans native who brought her love of bold flavors and warm hospitality to Texas. Over the past 29 years, Texas Borders has built a strong reputation as a go-to spot for casual dining, good drinks, and local connection. Kellie and her husband, Kevin Wann, now run the business together and have helped it grow while keeping the same core values intact.
“We’re bringing more than a restaurant to Cane Island–we’re bringing a full experience,” Kellie said in a press release. “This community is the perfect match for our family-forward, fun loving culture.” She added, “We’re just not opening a restaurant–we’re becoming a part of the community.” That focus on connection and atmosphere is reflected in their plans for the new location.
In addition to its well-loved menu, which includes burgers, wings, po’boys, tacos, pastas, steaks, brunch, and kids’ meals, the new spot will feature live music both inside and on the patio, seasonal crawfish boils, and wine and whiskey tasting events. Poolside service will be available, with a separate pool menu that includes frozen drinks, snow cones, and ice cream, giving it a resort-style feel during the warmer months. Families can also look forward to regular kids’ events like arts and crafts and face painting.
Specials will rotate throughout the week, including happy hours and weekend deals, and the space will be available for both on-site and off-site catering. From birthday parties to football watch gatherings, the team behind Texas Borders plans to make the new location as flexible and inviting as possible.
The new location will officially open to the public in July 2025.
