The Kebab Shop, a booming “new school” Mediterranean chain, is set to open not one but two locations in the Greater Houston area this Summer. According to state permits, The Kebab Shop will open in both Houston and New Caney. The Houston location will be located at 9758 Katy Fwy, Suite 200, while the New Caney location is set to open at 21856 Market Place Drive, #300.
Both permits detail that construction on the New Caney and Houston shops is expected to start in February and wrap up in July 2026. Both will cost a whopping $500,000 each to be completed.
Fred Rajab was listed on the permit as the tenant of both locations. What Now Houston reached out to Rajab, who confirmed that he will be running both locations and expects to open by Summer 2026. What Now Houston also reached out to The Kebab Shop Vice President of Operations, Omar Nazihi, but did not hear back by the time of this publication.
“Our journey began in downtown San Diego, where we worked alongside our team to create a ‘New-School’ Mediterranean style, combining traditional flavors, familiar ingredients, and genuine service to create memorable experiences for all,” the website reads.
Wally Sadat started The Kebab Shop with his brother-in-law in San Diego’s East Village in 2008. The family-owned fast-casual Mediterranean spot quickly grew to multiple California locations before expanding into Texas and Florida. That Texas expansion started with Austin in 2019. There are now more than 50 of The Kebab Shop locations across California, Texas, and Florida, with the family owning and operating every restaurant themselves.
The Kebab Shop menu is vast, featuring everything from wraps and bowls to plates, salads, and fries, all with a Mediterranean twist.
Check out the new Greater Houston region shops when The Kebab Shop opens in Houston at 9758 Katy Fwy, Suite 200, and New Caney at 21856 Market Place Drive, #300 this Summer.
