The Rustic has been rocking Texas in more ways than one since its inception in November 2018. The beloved restaurant and live music concept has multiple locations throughout Texas. By winter 2026, The Rustic downtown Houston venue will relocate from 1836 Polk St. and open doors at a new home at 1718 Jackson St.
The Rustis is owned and operated by FreeRange Concepts. This new location will sit next door to the expanded wing of the George R. Brown Convention Center. That means the current Rustic location in downtown Houston will close at the end of 2025.
“This is a temporary pause with a purpose,” said Josh Sepkowitz, co‑owner and CEO. “Downtown Houston has been an incredible home for The Rustic, and we’re eager to continue our story in a way that builds on what our guests already love. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2026.”
The move is due to the city’s upcoming construction project. However, while there will be a change of venue, the Rustic vibes the community has come to know and love will remain unchanged.
The Rustic, known for its “American food with culinary flair”, as its website describes, will continue to offer the same Rustic experience for its guests. The menu features The Rustic’s one-of-a-kind Texas tamales, a spicy salmon Caesar salad, smoked brisket tacos, redfish on the half shell, and more. The venue also has a brunch and happy hour with an extensive drink menu that includes the legendary Rustic ‘rita, strawberry martini, ginger yuzu spritz, and more.
The new Jackson Street Rustic will have additional conveniences, such as expanded on-site parking and a dedicated rideshare pick-up and drop-off area.
While the current location in downtown Houston, off of Polk St, will shutter at the end of 2025. But The Rustic will reopen in its new home at 1718 Jackson St. in the winter of 2026.
