Wendy’s, the widely popular international hamburger fast-food chain, is making another stamp on the Greater Houston region with an upcoming opening in Humble. According to a recently filed state permit, the new Wendy’s set t come to Humble is expected to open at 6603 Will Clayton Parkway, Suite 100.
Construction on the new Wendy’s expected to start in mid-February and wrap up by the end of May. The franchisee behind the new fast-food addition is Ricki Oberoi.
What Now Houston spoke with Oberio about the opening, confirming that the new Humble Wendy’s should be open by the end of May.
“It’s not really a big corporate flag that’s flying up there. It’s just a family that’s trying to make a living,” Oberio said.
“So come on by!”
This is not the first Wendy’s opening for the Oberois. The family has 48 Wendy’s locations between Texas and Floria.
“I’ve always been in the hospitality business, since I was a child,” Oberoi said.
“I was very fascinated by quick-service food, the way it works, the mechanics of the whole systems and lining up different types food and they’re all coming out at the same time.”
Wendy’s has been pumping out burgers since founder Dave Thomas open his first restaurant in Columbus, Ohio in 1969. Known for square, fresh beef patties that “don’t cut corners”. The chain quickly grew by offering quality burgers, chili, fries, Frosty desserts, and innovative features like the first modern drive-thru, becoming a major fast-food player by the 1970s and beyond.
“Wendy’s is Wendy’s” Oberoi said of the menu you can expect at the new Wendy’s location to come to Houston this year.
“We offer a better product because are hamburgers are fresh never frozen. We use a fresh product everytime.”
With that the Oberois have more at steak in proping up a new fast-food spot in Humble.
“We hope to bring more choices and that’s really it. We’re just a local business just to trying to thrive in the Houston community. We consider ourselves a small family business, believe it or not,” Oberoi said.
“We want to add more to the community and hopefully the community helps us and we can help them through fundraises and other local help. So, that’s the most important thing.”
The franchisee family looks to open at least three new Wendy’s locations this year. With one already in the works, the focus is on getting the Humble location up and running, and the surrounding community aware of employment opportunities.
“Employment hopefully, that’s the most important thing because we want people to come and work,” the Wendy’s franchisee said.
“It just seemed like agood traffic area it’s partnership with a gas station who wanted to put some food in there and so we think it will be good.”
