After losing restaurants due to rising insurance costs, a local restaurateur is opening a new concept in Downtown called 904Jazzy’s at 331 W. Forsyth St.
Co-owner Celestia Mobley recently announced and closed Jazzy’s Restaurant and Lounge at 901 King St. in Riverside on August 8 after several slip-and-fall lawsuits that caused her insurance rates to become unaffordable, according to Florida Times-Union. While she still owns and operates Celestia’s Coastal Cuisine at 6765 Dunn Avenue, she’s now planning a new venture in the former home of Whispers Oyster Bar, opening sometime in early 2024.
“After years of serving our community with joy and dedication, circumstances beyond our control have led us to the unfortunate conclusion that we must close the doors of Jazzy’s,” according to a recent Instagram post from Mobley. “Additionally, we are eagerly working on a new project, 904Jazzy’s,” which will be launching soon. With fresh ideas and a renewed spirit, we hope to bring you a new culinary adventure that captures the essence of our cherished Jazzy’s.”
Mobley first opened Celestia’s Coastal Cuisine in 2017 after serving as an executive chef and general manager for The Potter’s House Soul Food Bistro. Two years later, she opened Jazzy’s and featured live R&B, soul music, and spoken word performances. The restaurant was named after her daughter and quickly became popular in the area. Now, she hopes to continue the legacy with 904Jazzy’s.
