Angie’s Subs, the Jacksonville-based restaurant that serves Peruvian-style sub sandwiches, is opening a new location at the Jacksonville International Airport at 2400 Yankee Clipper Dr.

The company’s second location will move into Concourse A post-security in early 2024, according to Jacksonville Daily Record. The restaurant will feature about ten of its most popular subs, as well as a grab-and-go section with cold subs and salads. While the new Angie’s Subs will only have about ten seats for its customers, owners hope people will rely on the grab-and-go aspect to bring Peruvian-style sandwiches to the sky. The company will provide training for the staff, but the airport will operate the restaurant.

This isn’t the first time Angie’s Subs planned to expand. The company announced in 2019 its plans to expand from Jacksonville Beach, but the project was put on hold when the pandemic began. Now, Angie’s Subs will be joining another Jacksonville-based company, Firehouse Subs, in Concord A, along with the recently opened Southern Grounds & Co. in pre-security and the upcoming Vino Volo with a new Verdi Market, expected to open in the first quarter of 2024. While Ange’s Subs has been planning to expand the business since pre-pandemic, the opportunity to expand to the airport came as a surprise.

“We just got a call one day from JIA asking if we would be interested because they have a storefront ready, and they wanted to bring in some local JAX-known businesses to the airport,” Kam Nix, Angie’s general manager, told JDR. “We were honored. We never thought it was anything we would ever do. We’re super thankful for the opportunity. We’re excited for people to eat Peruvians at 30,000 feet.”
