A sister to Collage Restaurant, located at 60 Hypolita St in St. Augustine’s down Historic District, Blackfly the Restaurant has made its home at 108 Anastasia Boulevard for thirteen years, and now, according to coverage by the St. Johns Citizen, it’s preparing for a move.
Although the restaurant spent well over a decade in its current home, the Citizen points out, it doesn’t own the space. Now, the restaurant owners have purchased a permanent home for the restaurant; namely, the building at 410 Anastasia Blvd, which was previously occupied by Mellow Mushroom (which is itself moving).
For dinner, Blackfly serves up entrees like Red Snapper (Seared, Skin-On Red Snapper, Lightly Blackened, Jasmine Rice, Vegetables, Mango & Jalapeno Salsa), Seafood & Grits (Seared Shrimp & Scallops, Served Over Asiago Cheese Polenta, Vegetables, Tomato-Fennel Jam, Chorizo-Cotija Crumble), and Autumn Farfalle (Our Signature Vegan Dish; Bow Tie Pasta, Sautéed With, Apples, Fennel, Sage, & Pistachios, Tossed In A Butternut Squash Puree With Peruvian Sweet Drop Peppers).
There are also individual brick oven pizzas like the Mediterranean (Green Olives, Spinach, Roasted Red Peppers, Artichoke Hearts, Goat Cheese, Garlic Oil), and the Blackfly Supreme (Pepperoni, Italian Sausage, Roasted Red Peppers, Mushrooms, & Onions, Green Olives, Mozzarella, & Asiago Cheeses, Basil-Marinara Base, Oregano)—plus plenty of appetizers, ranging from Cheese Breadsticks to Maine Lobster Egg Rolls, to a Spicy Tuna Roll.
What Now reached out on Monday to Vaughn Cochran, one of the owners behind Blackly the Restaurant, to ask about plans for the move and any changes that might be expected to the menu. Cochran was not immediately available to discuss the opening.
The Citizen says Blackly is expected to open in its new permanent home in February.
