Last week, What Now reported on plans for Makai Poke & Musubi, a poke concept headed up by John Panghulan, to open in Riverside. As it happens, it’s not the only concept Panghulan currently has in development in the area.

“CoLab Cafe, a creative studio located on Post Street, is transitioning into a new concept called Cafecito?” said a post published on Instagram by JAX Food at the end of January. “After hosting pop ups at Norikase, where they became known for their amazing matcha, the team is now gearing up to open their very own coffee shop.”

The post includes a quote from co-founder Kevin Perez about Cafecito (stylized as “cafecito?”):

“Our intention with Cafecito is simple: to make you feel at home and well cared for. It’s a pause from the rush—a place to slow down, enjoy a warm cup, and a mental refresh.“

Perez is launching the concept in its first brick-and-mortar home with Panghulan, Cafecito’s other co-founder.

Cafecito’s website is live, showing a simple representation of the upcoming storefront. Details on the menu are not yet included on the site, however.
