A local franchise owner is preparing to open another Charleys Cheesesteaks in Florida, this time in Jacksonville at 1401 Dunn Ave.

This is the latest from franchisee Maged Ebied, who owns and operates at least six Charleys locations in Florida. The businessman recently submitted a plan review application to the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation to open a new location in the former home of Country Cabin near the Dunn Avenue Plaza Shopping Mall. The new Charleys Cheesesteaks will open later this year, possibly early next year, considering this application is for new construction.

Ebied has been leading the brand’s expansion into Florida, having opened the company’s 700th location in Jacksonville Beach in 2022. This was a massive accomplishment for both the franchise owner and the company, which first started in Ohio in 1986. After over 35 years of operation and surviving the pandemic, the restaurant chain expects to have 2,000 locations by 2026.

“Reaching 700 locations is just the beginning,” Charleys President Candra Alisiswanto said in a press release at the time of the achievement. “Our fans are craving more locations, and our franchisees are excited about growth. We’re looking forward to our next big milestone of 1,000 locations.”

While Charley’s is still reaching that goal, they have made great strides since then, with at least 850+ locations in more than 17 countries worldwide. When the new Jacksonville location opens, customers can expect some of the best cheesesteaks ever tasted, all made with fresh, quality ingredients and grilled-to-order the Charleys way. The restaurant also offers loaded gourmet fries, refreshing natural lemonades, and mouthwatering wings.
