Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen is heading to 3989 Plaza Blvd in Gainesville, according to recent business filings. Bahama Breeze was formerly open at the location. It closed in May.
This location will be the first in Gainesville for Cheddar’s. The closest locations are in Town Center Parkway in Jacksonville and one in Ocala.
Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen offers an expansive menu including chicken, steak and ribs, seafood, sandwiches, burgers and comfort food.
Doug Rogers and Aubrey Good opened Cheddar’s in Arlington, Texas, in 1979. Since then, it has expanded to nearly 200 locations, with a strong presence in both Texas and Florida. It has locations throughout the Eastern U.S., with some expansion taking place toward the west.
The brand joined Darden Restaurants in 2017. Darden also owns Olive Garden, Yard House, The Capital Grille and Bahama Breeze Island Grille.
As of now, an opening timeline is unclear.
