A recently filed permit for Chiba Poke at 10950 San Jose Blvd #12 has been approved, although neighbors looking to grab a bite of something fresh from the former Pizza Hut space might have to wait a bit.

Though there is no confirmed grand-opening date, co-owner Zhiyan Chen told What Now Jacksonville that they are waiting on a few inspections to be cleared before they start construction.

Chiba Poke is likely to open in late 2023 or early 2024 near the Southwood area of Jacksonville, Chen said, who short of confirming the news, didn’t have much to share this far away from the restaurant’s debut.

The website for the restaurant shows a menu full of fresh seafood offerings, chicken bowls, bubble tea, smoothies and mochi ice cream.

Chiba Poke will be taking over a former Pizza Hut location and will be neighbors to a variety of local businesses inside the San Jose Plaza in Jacksonville.
