Five Guys, one of the country’s biggest limited-service burger restaurants, is working on a new location in Jacksonville at 4495 Roosevelt Boulevard, Suite 300-301.
The company’s newest location will move into a vacant corner space in the Roosevelt Square Shopping Center, according to a plan review application from the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation. The fast-casual restaurant will sit next to Great Clips in the same building as Chipotle Mexican Grill, Green Lake Chinese, and Fuji Sushi West. There is no exact opening date, considering the application from Five Guys Properties, LLC is still being processed.
When the new Five Guys opens, it will be the closest to Downtown Jacksonville, with six other locations throughout Northeast Florida. The next nearest location will be the site in the Oakleaf Town Center. There is another site in Orange Park, at 1910 Wells Road, but it is permanently closed. The company has over 1,500 locations across the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
Five Guys take pride in serving hand-formed burgers on the grill and fresh-cut potatoes fried in peanut oil. Jerry Murrell and his family opened the first Five Guys location in Arlington, Virginia, in 1986. Over the next two decades, the family expanded in the D.C. area, adding three more locations. In 2003, the family began franchising the concept with Fransmart, and in less than two years, Five Guys Enterprises sold options for more than 300 units. Today, the brand is often considered one of the best burger chains in the United States.
