A brand new ice cream parlor called Gator Ice Cream is set to make its debut soon in Jacksonville Beach, located at 1010 Third Street Suite B.
The sweet shop will move into the former home of Kathy’s Table in Seawalk Village. Owner Joel Foreacre tells What Now Jacksonville he hopes to open this concept of his sometime next month, but he is waiting on the health department. He says customers can expect hand-crafted made-in-house American hard ice cream. There will be alcohol-infused ice cream flavors and traditional and custom flavors. Gator Ice Cream will also have dairy-free ice cream for anyone who is lactose intolerant.
This will be a perfect location for the new ice cream shop, directly behind Salt Life Food Shack and Mellow Mushroom. It will be the only gourmet ice cream shop in the area, only having to compete with Daily Queen on the other side of 9th Avenue and Cookies and Cream down the street. Other businesses sharing the building with Gator Ice Cream include F45 Training, Fit Fab Foods, and Round Bird Coffee Shop.
Foreacre tells What Now Jacksonville that he grew up in a restaurant that serves and makes ice cream, so he believes this next venture will come second-hand. Before this, Foreacre worked as a luthier, repairing and setting up thousands of instruments since 1995. In 2002 He moved his company, Guitars United, from Orlando to Jacksonville to be closer to his family. He hopes to open Gator Ice Cream in time for the summer heat.
