A very, very long-awaited Holiday Inn opening is finally coming to fruition at Gateway to Amelia in Fernandina Beach.
To get to the bottom of it, we had to dig up an old article from the Jacksonville Daily Record published more than seven years ago, in November 2018. It described the new hotel as comprising 96 rooms and four stories. At the time, owner Kapil Bava said it was expected to open in 2020.
Then, this week—again, just over seven years later—What Now came across submitted restaurant and food service plan review documents submitted by Gateway to Amelia Hospitality LLC for the Holiday Inn Express and Suites, opening at 960108 Gateway Blvd. It looks like it’s finally happening!
What Now reached out to Kapil Bava on Friday to ask about plans for the rollout and the details of the hotel’s food amenities. Bava was not immediately available for comment. The precise details of the hotel’s food service offerings are thus not yet known.
The opening, however, is: on the hotel’s website, you can now make reservations for stays starting on January 11.
