After opening its second location in Riverside, Homespun Kitchen is looking to open a third location in Northeast Florida.
Homespun’s flagship location opened 13 years ago on Atlantic Boulevard, followed by a 2,400-square-foot site near Five Points last year. Now, owner Aaron Levine is currently scouting locations for a third Homespun Kitchen, according to Jacksonville Business Journal. Possible areas include Ponte Vedra Beach, Nocatee, St. Johns Town Center, and San Marco. Levine says he anticipates signing a lease by the end of the year. This location will be a little different compared to the first two.
“My next Homespun will be the first stand-alone with a drive-thru,” Levine tells JBJ. “I’ll need about 1,800 square feet, but until then, my focus is on teaching others how to run the business.”
The restaurant focuses on healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. When Levine entered the industry over a decade ago, he knew healthy-food-focused restaurants struggled to succeed. Now with two locations, he has proven the food can be delicious, healthy, and fast, all at the same time. Eventually, Levine hopes to expand the business into an 800-corporate operation with potential franchise opportunities. Much of this successful vision comes from the culture Levine created within Homespun Kitchen.
“The restaurant industry can often be toxic and stressful, and when people come to work for us, they enter a ‘no yell’ environment,” Levine said. “My goal is that your employment be positive. We don’t tear people down. We build them up so when they move to their next adventure, they will be better employees.”
