The hot dog, one of the classic American street foods—if not the classic American street food—is not as easy to find as it once was. True, you’ll still find it at a stadium concession stand. But then, even if it’s the best hot dog you’ve ever had (and it probably isn’t), it’s hard to justify stadium prices.
Carmen, a local businessperson and brand-new mom, will soon be turning at up at your favorite Jacksonville events to solve this problem. She’s launching Hot Mama Hotdogs, with plans to bring back the beloved dog, served alongside other sausages and nachos.
“I always wanted a really good hot dog,” Carmen told What Now on Thursday. “But I could never find one in Jacksonville.”
And how would you describe the really good hot dog? What Now asked.
“For me, it’s about having everything. Chilis, cheese, raw onion, peppers, jalapenos, banana peppers, relish, ketchup mustard. That’s how I like it, and that’s how I think it should be.”
As Hot Momma Hotdogs prepares to get up and running, you can expect to find it soon in various spots—particularly in downtown Jacksonville, Carmen says.
