Located, until recently, at 8380 Baymeadows Rd, Suite 8, Jax Fish Fry is a “laid-back restaurant specializing in lightly battered and fried cod and other seafood, plus burgers and chicken tenders,” says a description on Google Maps for the Baymeadows location.

That location closed recently, however. So, for the moment, if you’ve got a hankering for Jax Fish Fry, you’ll have to visit the restaurant’s St. Johns location, at 170 Fountains Way.

As reported by Jacksonville.com this week, the Baymeadows location had to close after the expiration of its lease and a prohibitive rent hike that would been required to continue operating. It’s not the end for this location, however: owners Roger and Dori Alexanian are actively scouting for a new home for the restaurant.

“We are looking at Mandarin, Bartram, Beach and Hodges currently,” Dori Alexanian says in the Jacksonville.com coverage. “Hoping to have that relocation open in the new year.”

“Inspired by the Northern-style fish fry traditions we grew up loving in upstate New York, we opened Jax Fish Fry to bring those flavors to Jacksonville,” says the Jax Fish Fry website. “Using fresh North Atlantic cod, lightly breaded and cooked to perfection, we’ve crafted a simple, heartfelt menu that lets the seafood shine. From our family’s favorite recipes to homemade desserts baked by Dori herself, every bite is made with care and a passion for quality. Proudly local, we’re here to share a taste of our roots with the Jacksonville community.”
