“Kappuccinos wants to be the ‘Cheers’ of North Jacksonville,” reported the Jacksonville Daily Record today, breaking news of the opening of Kappuccinos Breakfast & Sports Bar at 11257 Alta Drive this April.

Behind the project are Keith and Catherine Jones, who describe the bar as being like Cheers, the eponymous bar “Where Everybody Knows Your Name” in the famous sitcom Cheers that aired in the 80’s and early 90’s.

The Daily Record says Kappuccinos will serve breakfast for “neighborhood patrons as well as workers, truckers and port employees from the nearby industrial parks and JaxPort terminals,” offering “specialty coffees and a full breakfast.”

Kappuccinos will open at 6 a.m. with breakfast, switching over to lunch until 1 p.m. After that, there will be a break until 5 p.m., when it will reopen as a sports bar, sometimes featuring live music.

“Kappuccinos will provide a full breakfast and lunch menu that will include Southern breakfast classics like shrimp and grits fresh ‘from our neighboring Mayport docks’ to lunch classics like cheesesteak melt meals,” the Daily Record coverage says. You can also expect to catch the game on several large TV’s.

That story came out today, but a vigilant watcher of Instagram may have been aware of the planned opening all the way back on January 30, when the Kappuccinos published its first post, saying, “Are you ready? Stay tuned!”

What Now contacted Keith Jones on Friday to ask about plans for the opening. Jones was not immediately available to discuss the restaurant, however. We’re hoping to hear back with an update soon!
