Founded by Cianna Bommarito, Kava & Company is “Jacksonville’s premier elixir bar,” serving up kava, mocktails and other alcohol-free beverages—plus a selection of bagels and other eats—in two locations. And next year, it’s expanding to a third, opening at 223 Ninth Avenue S in Jacksonville Beach, according to coverage by the Jacksonville Business Journal.

What Now spoke with Cianna Bommarito on Friday about how the brand, and kava in general, has been received in the area at a moment when people are drinking less alcohol than they used to, but still want a place to gather and sip a great beverage.

“It’s been amazing,” Bommarito said. “We love our community, and the open-mindedness of people these days really aligns with what we’re trying to do. Kava has been very well received. Actually, we were getting too busy and needed to expand!”

When can we expect this next opening? What Now asked.

“I like to project around April,” Bommarito said.

With a menu featuring New York Bagels, Acai Bowls, flatbreads, and the Duval Wrap (Grilled Chicken or Grilled Steak on a warm buttered garlic pita, with sauteed peppers and onions, and Mozzarella Cheese), plus a variety of coffee drinks and kratom mocktails, Kava & Company is not just a bar serving up kava. It’s “Jacksonville’s Best Botanical Bar.”

As the space goes into construction, Bommarito says the details on the new location’s layout and vibes are staying under wraps for now. But you can expect a 100%-new space with a Miami vibe.

“We’re really excited to bring Kava & Company to Jacksonville Beach. It’s something the area has been needing for a while.”
