Popular Florida-based micro chain Keke’s Breakfast Cafe is getting ready to open two more locations within the Jacksonville area.

Keke’s Breakfast Cafe, owned and operated by Denny’s Corporation, recently submitted plan reviews for two corporate-owned locations coming to the area at an unknown time. The company will open a new site at 12959 Atlantic Boulevard in the former home of Sugarfire Smokehouse. Keke’s Breakfast Cafe is also working on a new location at 9570 Crosshill Boulevard in the Oakleaf Town Center. Both sites were the former homes of Panera Bread.

The restaurant was founded by brothers Kevin and Keith Maher in 2006 before selling the company to Denny’s last year for $82.5 million. Keke’s Breakfast Cafe now has 58 locations, most of which are in Florida. Denny’s acquired certain assets and assumed certain liabilities of the franchise business, Keke’s Breakfast Café, along with eight restaurants owned and operated by the sellers. When these locations open, customers can expect handmade breakfast and lunch entrees with fresh fruits and vegetables.

“We are excited to officially welcome the Keke’s Breakfast Café team and franchisees to the Denny’s family,” Chief Executive Officer and President Kelli Valade said last year during the announcement. “The A.M. Eatery segment is fast-growing, and Keke’s is a brand with attractive unit economics and strong potential. This acquisition provides an exciting expansion opportunity through a complementary concept that serves a different guest and can enhance value for our shareholders.”
