“IT’S HAPPENING!” says a post published on Instagram by the upcoming mobile food vendor Lizzy on the Glizzys. “We officially bought our cart and couldn’t me more excited to be one step closer to rolling out the flavor! The dream is becoming real —thank you to everyone cheering us on.”

It’s a development that can never fail to please: new takes on the classic American hot dog. Another post by Lizzy on the Glizzys (whose name sometimes appears as Lizzy with the Glizzys) lists a few varieties to be offered: the Classic, the Chili & Cheese, the Chicago, and the Plain (which, for the record, is followed by a cry-laugh emoji).

If you didn’t know the following, don’t worry, we didn’t didn’t either: “So… what’s a glizzy?” says a third post. “A glizzy is slang for a hot dog—simple, iconic, and always hitting the spot. Whether it’s grilled, loaded, bacon-wrapped, or classic, if it’s a hot dog… it’s a glizzy. Now you know. And now you’re probably hungry.”

We sure are!

What Now reached out to Lizzy on the Glizzys owner Elizabeth Geister on Friday to ask about plans for the launch, after coming across submitted plan review documents for what appears to be a commercial kitchen space at 1301 N Orange Avenue (home to the Collective Kitchen, “Jacksonville’s only fully turn-key shared commercial kitchen offering professional kitchen space for chefs, bakers, and food truck entrepreneurs”). Geister was not immediately available for comment.
