Accoriding to recent reporting, local duo Cherron Johnson and Hector Zayas are coming back into the fold with a significant new project.

The husband-and-wife duo behind Main Street Park will be renovating a vacant warehouse in Jacksonville’s Phoenix district into the “Main Street Food Park and Mini Golf Adventures,” which will be a 12,000-square-foot indoor-outdoor destination with mini golf, kids’ play areas, a splash pad and multiple stages for live entertainment.

“The weather was our big downfall,” Johnson said of the original outdoor location at 1352 N. Main St. “It seemed like it was either raining every afternoon or it was 100 degrees outside, so we had to cancel a lot of events.”

In response to their setbacks, Johnson and Zayas found an abandoned warehouse near the Phoenix district, located at 2403 N. Market St.

“We fell in love with it, and it’s just wonderful,” Johnson said.

“Inside, the building will be converted into a lounge, dining area and event center. Upstairs will feature a stage, an “adult lounge” and rental space, while downstairs will house a full bar, kitchen, coffee shop, dessert bar and indoor kids’ area. Outside, families will find miniature golf, a playground and, eventually, a splash pad. Main Street’s original 24-foot trolley food truck will be repurposed into a bar and ticketing hub, keeping a familiar piece of the first venture alive,” the Business Journal states.

“Where the original food park relied heavily on food trucks, the couple plans to run the kitchen and bar themselves this time, while partnering with one long-time food truck operator to expand the menu. Expect “fun family foods fare,” Johnson said, from chicken fingers, hot dogs and smash burgers to shrimp, salmon and protein rice bowls, alongside a sandwich and sub window.

The report adds that while construction plans are in place, permitting has slowed the process. In February 2025, the Jacksonville City Council voted 18-0 to rezone the property from Industrial Light to Planned Unit Development. Next, Johnson and Zayas will present a proposal for a $35,000 Business Infrastructure Grant to the Mayor’s Budget Review Committee on Sept. 23.
