St. Johns County is getting ready to welcome a new location of Culver’s, the American chain restaurant, coming to St. Augustine at 2620 Stratton Blvd.

Franchisees Garth and Lisa Darton, who own the Culver’s at 3433 U.S. 1, are getting ready to open their second location in the area, according to Jacksonville Daily Record. Campbell Construction of Mukwonago, Wisconsin, is the contractor and is expected to break ground next month. The Dartons are planning to open this site in April 2024. The new 4,443-square-foot restaurant and drive-thru will be designed to be accessible off of I-95 with RV and bus parking, plus space for a 40-seat patio.

When the restaurant opens early next year, customers can expect to find the brand’s signature ButterBurgers — burgers on buttered, toasted buns – and frozen custard, as well as chicken sandwiches and tenders, seafood options, salads, and more. This is the second Culver’s currently being developed in the area, with franchisees Don and Lori Lichte opening a new restaurant at 4768 Hodges Blvd. The Dartons opened their first Culver’s in St. Augustine in 2020 after moving to Florida from Wisconsin the year prior.

“We’ve been wintering here since 2011, and we grew up with Culver’s,” Darton tells Jacksonville Daily Record. “We saw how Culver’s was taking off on the western side of the state [of Florida]. When they opened up the eastern side of the state, we got involved.”
