A brand new restaurant called The Lomax Restaurant is hoping to make its debut in Five Points, located at 803 Lomax St.

The new restaurant will potentially move into the former home of Wells Fargo; however, the city is currently reviewing a permit for the addition and remodeling, according to Jacksonville Daily Record. If approved, this will be the newest concept from Roost Restaurants LLC, which opened The Local in Miramar and Neptune Beach. Restaurant group owners Martin E. “Ted” Stein II and Jack Charles “JC” Demetree III do not have a timeline for the construction and opening dates for The Lomax Restaurant.

“As a restaurant group, we’ve strived to introduce new and exciting concepts to Jacksonville, and we can’t wait to bring our newest addition,” Demetree tells Jacksonville Daily Record.

The new 5,855-square-foot construction project will cost approximately $600,000, led by Jacksonville’s Toney Construction Co. and Kasper Architects + Associates Inc. Plans for The Lomax Restaurant include two levels, with three bars, lounge space, a venue platform, and a kitchen on the first floor. There will be space for 21 parking spots in the back of the former bank building and potentially a total of 160 seats inside the restaurant for customers. The hours of operations have yet to be revealed.

Five Points already has several bars and restaurants in the area, with Odessa Slava, Taqueria Cinco, and Sake House being the closest. The Lomax Restaurant will sit perfectly in between Riverside Park and Memorial Park. The city will likely approve of these plans, considering the Jacksonville Planning Commission approved a zoning exception and an application for a waiver of liquor distance with no opposition at the beginning of March.
