According to recent reporting in JDR, Darden Restaurants Inc. obtained a site-clearing permit Feb. 12 to clear almost 2 acres for a new Olive Garden Italian Kitchen.

The permit will allow site clearing at 4995 Sweetgrass Place at a project cost of $20,000. Now, the city will be reviewing a construction permit for the 7,847-square-foot restaurant at a project cost of $2.4 million.  Notably, the location is planned to be next to a seven-story, 174-room Embassy Suites hotel in Glen Kernan Park.

“From never ending servings of our freshly baked breadsticks and iconic garden salad, to our homemade soups and sauces, there’s something for everyone to enjoy,” the official website states.

“Olive Garden makes up 44% of Darden’s total sales and 45% of its restaurant locations. Its May Securities and Exchange Commission filing showed Darden having 2,031 restaurants,” JDR adds.

No opening date has been announced.
