One Chick Fil A Debuts as Another Remodels

According to a recent press release a new takeout-only Chick-fil-A has opened in East Arlington as operator Melinda Sowers’s other location aims to re-open in 2025.

The new location It is located at 11909 Atlantic Blvd. in the Atlantic North shopping center at northwest Atlantic and Kernan boulevards. The location will have drive-thru, carry-out, delivery and catering services. A dedicated “Mobile Thru” lane will serve customers placing orders using the Chick-fil-A app, per the release.

It will be open 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6:30 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. It will be closed on Sunday.

Regarding the other location, a recent Facebook post states “We’re officially closed for a remodel at our Atlantic & Hodges location!”

“We’ll be reopening in Spring 2025—stay tuned for updates!” 

At Chick-fil-A Atlantic & Kernan, Sowers will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 120 full- and part-time Team Members, serving Guests, cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses, and tailoring philanthropic efforts to meet the Jacksonville community’s needs, the release states.

“Inspired by a deep desire to make a positive impact on her community, Sowers pursued a career with Chick-fil-A, bringing more than 15 years of leadership experience in the restaurant industry with her. In 2008, she was selected as the local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Atlantic & Hodges, which she will continue to operate alongside this new restaurant. For the past 16 years, Sowers and her team have been committed to serving Guests and the Jacksonville community with the highest quality of delicious food and signature hospitality. To further enhance service and the Guest experience, Chick-fil-A Atlantic & Hodges will be temporarily closed beginning Nov. 21, 2024 to rebuild the restaurant. It is scheduled to reopen in Q2 2025, pending any delays.”

“Opening Chick-fil-A Atlantic & Kernan will be a true full-circle moment for Sowers. When she and her husband Brian moved to Jacksonville over 20 years ago, their family lived on Kernan Boulevard and they raised their children in the neighborhood. Now, her youngest son Carson will join the new restaurant as a Team Member, while her oldest son Jacob will continue to serving on the leadership team.”
