Parlor Doughnuts, the fast-growing doughnut chain found throughout the country, is opening new locations in Clay County and St. Johns County.
The company continues to grow across northeast Florida, starting with a new site in Jacksonville Beach, opening in the new few weeks. This follows new locations in Fruit Cove and St. Augustine. Now, a representative from the company tells What Now Jacksonville two more sites are being planned for the area. While the company will start with a new location in the newly built Parkway Commons Shopping Center in St. Augustine, the Fleming Island site is in the final lease negotiations. Both are expected to open by year-end
Parlor Doughnuts will join several other businesses in the new St. Augustine development at 101 E Twincourt Trail, including Coldwell Banker, Queen Nails, PT Solutions, Styles by DJ Hair, Kumon, Fancy Q Sushi Bar and Grill, and Anejo Cocina Mexicana. These are all expected to open later this year. The site also has three spaces currently available. Construction began in late 2021 at the intersection of International Golf Parkway and Commerce Lake Drive, just east of I-95, and has attracted more businesses to the area, such as Buc-ee’s, which opened last year, and Costco, opening June 2023.
The Jacksonville Parlor Doughnuts are owned through a partnership involving two families. Managing partner Israel “Izzy” Guibas and his son, Michael, along with Rebecca Mullin and daughters Madison Sheets and Grayson Sheets, will own the Jacksonville Beach, World Golf Village, and Fleming Island locations. Mullin and Izzy Guibas started as co-owners of a small coffee shop, Twisted Compass Brewing Co., in Fruit Cove. Eventually, the families converted the company to doughnut shops after falling in love with the Parlor Dougnuts concept in the Destin area, according to the Florida Times-Union.
“When we found them, they had about ten shops open [nationwide], and they have about 30 open now and about 50 under contract throughout the country,” Guibas tells the Times regarding the doughnut shop chain, which was founded by Darrick Hayden, in partnership with Josh Tudela, in February 2019.
