PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans is preparing to debut in Northeast Florida with a new location in Orange Park at 3470 Royal Pines Drive, Site C101.

The chain coffee shop is getting ready to finally enter the Jacksonville market, with the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation recently approving franchise owner Kenia Nunnery to open a newly constructed building across the street from the Publix-anchored OakLeaf Commons. The development is currently under construction and will feature several other new businesses. The new PJ’s Coffee will open later this year, becoming the fourth location in Florida, with more on the way.

The company’s website currently has this site listed as coming to Middleburg, which is nearby in a residential neighborhood. The news of the upcoming location comes after a few months of PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans closed its doors in Cape Coral just four months after making its area debut. Susan Wright, who co-owns the Cape Commons location with partner Mike Herren, cited franchise differences as the reason for the Oct. 18 closure. Despite this and the temporary closure of the Largo site, the company has big plans for Florida, including new sites coming to Daytona Beach, New Port Richey, and Panama City.

“When you step into PJ’s coffeehouse in Middleburg, FL, each customer is reminded of the spirit that the city of New Orleans brings,” according to the company’s website. “PJ’s famous iced coffees are brewed daily using a special cold-drip process that protects the flavor and strength of the beans, while producing a coffee that is 2/3 less acidic – a process pioneered by our founder. Bags of whole bean coffee and single-serve cups of PJ’s Coffee are available for sale in-store and online.”
