According to recent public records, a popular food truck will soon debut a takeout location in the area.

Voodoo Shrimp Shack, led by Bill Federico, will be found at 850973 Hwy 17 in Yulee.

“I’ve been in operation for three years,” the enthusiastic Federico tells What Now. A software engineer by profession, Federico’s entry into the food & beverage industry was a labor of love.

“I got into it because my kids were in marching band,” he explains. “When they started off they didn’t have a way to raise money.”

And so Federico took on the challenge, serving up homestyle seafood for the band–and it worked.

“We basically took that band program and turned it around,” he says, joking that “the only culinary credential I have is that I’m a fat Italian.”

The takeout establishment and seafood market will be found at a building erected in 1938 which formerly served as home to Terrell’s Place. The lively location, Federico reports, came with some real characters, such as Evil Mama Crab, an wisened old cat who has befriended Federico and crew.

While no exact opening date has been set, pending approvals, the establishment should open this summer.
