A brand new Alkaline-based smoothie shop called Reggae Roots Alkaline Smoothie Juice & Tea Bar is getting ready to open its first location in Jacksonville.

The company recently submitted plans reviews to the city of Jacksonville to open a new eatery at 2262 Atlantic Blvd. Owner Najih El hopes to open this eatery in Summer 2023, according to the company’s social media. The interior of the space is currently being renovated, and the city is reviewing its plan review application now. When the new juice and tea bar opens, customers can expect a welcoming space full of Rastafarian pride, including the culture’s flag as the color theme of the restaurant.

While this will be the owner’s first eatery, El is no stranger to supporting his African and Caribbean culture through business. The business owner is also responsible for Raggae Roots INT Culture Shop in Jacksonville’s North Main Street. There he offers everything from clothing, shea butter, black soap, and more. Now El will have another opportunity to not only share his heritage but also provide for the community.

When Reggae Roots Alkaline Smoothie Juice & Tea Bar opens, customers can expect a variety of dishes not often seen in American cafes. Some items that will be found on the menu include ackee tostadas, purple seamoss water, and banana splits. The company recently announced it will be offering So Delicious ice cream cones. As the name suggests, customers will also find plenty of healthy and nutritional juice and tea options.
