Ricardo’s Latin Bakery is getting ready to open its doors for the first time in Lake City, located at 471 FL-247 Ste 115.

This new Latin bakery is the latest from Ulises Ricardo, a Coast Guard veteran and firefighter in Columbia County. He and his wife, who are both Cuban-born, will open this new eatery near the Florida Gateway Fairgrounds, according to a Plan Review Application submitted to the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation. Ricardo couldn’t provide an official opening date, but he tells What Now Jacksonville that he is waiting for a final health inspection before opening.

When Ricardo’s Latin Bakery opens later this year, it will move into the former home of Flamingo Apparel, between 101 Smoke Shop and China Wok, in the Branford Crossing strip mall. This will be an excellent location for the new bakery, considering it sits across from the Lake City Flea Market and Florida Gateway Fairgrounds, making it a perfect place to grab a quick bite to eat before embarking on either of those ventures.

On top of having plenty of foot traffic from nearby businesses and event centers, Ricardo’s Latin Bakery will have very little nearby competition from Little Ceasars Pizza and BW Blacksmith Deli and Grill. Further north are the Lake City Mall and Lake City Commons, which are full of other restaurant options. Despite this, the new bakery will only have to compete with Panera Bread, Walmart Bakery, and Dunkin Donuts.
