The chicken chain juggernaut Kentucky Fried Chicken is getting ready to open a new location in Orange Park.

The company’s newest location is the latest from Tasty Restaurant Group, which already owns 90 locations in eight states, according to the group’s website. TRG recently submitted a plan review application for 393 Tanglewood Boulevard, but the application is still processing. This site is all undeveloped land, so it is possible this isn’t the official location. However, the group recently began to search for upper managerial positions in the area. There is no exact opening date. TRG also operates the KFC at 17 Blanding Blvd.

The restaurant’s subsidiary, Tasty Chick’n, acquired 90 franchised KFC restaurants early last year, and this appears to be the first time it has expanded since. This year, Tasty Restaurant Group opened two KFC locations in northeast Florida, including one in Jacksonville and one in Ocala. So far, TRG has opened a total of seven restaurants this year, with plans to open many more. The company acquired 21 Dunkin’ Donuts locations in July 2021.

When this new location opens, it will be the group’s 19th KFC in the greater Jacksonville area, including one KFC/ Taco Bell dual-concept. While this new location strengthens the company’s KFC portfolio, its largest franchise by far is Pizza Hut, with 221 locations in 10 states. In total, Tasty Restaurant Group operates over 400 restaurants through the Pizza Hut, Burger King, Dunkin’, Baskin-Robbins, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Taco Bell brands.
