The Blue Crab Crabhouse, the Maryland-style crab house found in Jacksonville, is getting closer to reopening at 3057 Julington Creek Rd.

The company announced late last year that it had completed the cleanup phase of the restoration and was closer to reopening, according to the company’s website. Then, in March of this year, owner Tom Blanke announced on the website that they are still making progress and promised the same great place and food, but no opening date. Now, it appears more progress is being made. The company was recently issued $189,323 for permits for kitchen fire repair and painting of the dining area, according to Jacksonville Daily Record.

The restaurant appeared to suffer a kitchen within the past year, with fire crews reporting to the scene late one night. Despite having to close, the community has shared endless support towards the business, hoping to hear more updates soon. Blanke could not be reached for comments, but the restoration process could take a few more months. When it reopens, customers can expect the same great restaurant that has been around since 1996, with table service, take-out options, and a full bar. The restaurant also offers space for large events and parties.

“At The Blue Crab Crabhouse, we offer meals reminiscent of the Chesapeake Bay as well as southern seafood staples and never sacrifice quality for expediency,” according to the company’s website. “The key to our success is simple: providing quality consistent food that tastes great every single time, and extraordinary customer service. Come see for yourself why we are the premier Crab House in N.E Florida.”
