The Fresh Market, considered one of the best supermarkets in America, is looking to expand its location in Ponte Vedra Beach, at 840 Florida A1A N, with a coffee bar and other amenities.

The Greensboro-based grocery store recently submitted plans to add a coffee bar, requested approval for the on-site sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages, and design approval for the exterior remodel of the facade, according to Jacksonville Daily Record. St. Johns County Building Services shows that The Fresh Market Coffee Bar and The Fresh Market Liquor Store are planned in Suite 210. Those plans include adding 8,280 square feet next to the grocery store and are in review.

The company applied on January 26 with the St. Johns County Planning and Zoning Department, which is scheduled to hear a request on April 18 for a minor modification of The Fresh Market’s Planned Unit Development agreement. If approved, the national grocery chain will create a cafe/ lounge setting where customers will be welcome to enjoy various types of coffee or alcohol. It’s unclear if the company plans to add this concept to other locations.

The Fresh Market has 159 stores in 22 states, with three in Jacksonville, one in Fleming Island, and one in Ponte Vedra Beach, according to its website. Despite the potential additional, the grocery store offers a rotating variety of delicious products with new weekly features. Those who have never been to The Fresh Market will be delighted to know that the company believes in giving back to our communities to help make them a better place and participates in programs with a long-term focus on hunger-related causes.
