According to the JDR, a new concept by local restaurateurs is being cooked up for Vilano Beach.

Snappers, a Vilano Beach restaurant concept under development by Nathan Stuart and Margo Klar, is currently working its way through the permitting process. St. Johns County and the St. Johns River Water Management District are reviewing the project at 165 Vilano Road. Permits can be issued after approvals.

A recent post in Totally St. Augustine states the property includes a “1950s retro building that was previously Casa Benedetto’s (2014) and Tropicana Cuban Cafe. It originally opened in the 1950s as Gla-May Restaurant, and then in 1958 as Barrancotto’s Roma, an Italian restaurant that relocated to Vilano Beach from San Marco Avenue in uptown St. Augustine (it was there since 1946).”

Reportedly, the couple plan to expand the 2,153-square-foot building by 1,813 square feet. Site plans shows a common dining area, sushi bar, ice cream shop, a full bar and event space. In total, there will be spce for 194 guests.
