A new restaurant from the owner of Pink Salt Restaurant and Wine Bar is coming to the San Marco area of Jacksonville.

Vevetas Rum Bar + Tapas will showcase unique Caribbean tapas and rum-based cocktails, opening later this year at 1418 San Marco Blvd. The restaurant will neighbor its sister establishment, Pink Salt, which opened in 2018 from chef and owner Richard Robinson.

Although a grand-opening date has not yet been determined, the restaurant has been in the works for over a year and was originally announced in April of 2022. It is likely that Vevetas will open in the spring or summer of 2023.

Robinson shared with The Florida Times-Union that the restaurant is dedicated to his mother, whom the restaurant is named after. “I think it will be one of the best Mother’s Day gifts that she’s ever had,” Robinson told the Times-Union.

Vevetas will be an upscale-casual restaurant serving both lunch and dinner menus, which will include jerk pork, shrimp, oxtail and a special family recipe for a rum-based barbecue sauce. The menu will also include a variety of vegan options, as well as over 30 Jamaican rums to choose from.

Though Pink Salt and Vevetas are both Caribbean-style restaurants, Robinson ensures that they will bring forth unique menus and experiences.
