Waffle House, Inc. of Norcross, GA has recently filed to build a new location along North Main Street in Jacksonville, behind a Circle K and next to a Popeye’s, which is located at 45 Duval Station Road.
The undeveloped location does not currently have a defined address nor tentative opening timeline.
Waffle House notes on their website that they franchise their locations in partnership with their associates, who run the locations and can own company stock, however 95% of all Waffle House locations are currently corporately owned and operated, Vice President of Public Relations Njeri Boss told What Now Jacksonville.
Waffle House is known for their affordable, all-day breakfast options and distinctive ordering slang, including the option of ordering anything smothered (with sautéed onions), covered (with melted cheese), chunked (with grilled hickory smoked ham), diced (with grilled tomatoes), peppered (with spicy jalapeño peppers), capped (with grilled button mushrooms) topped (with chili) or country (with sausage gravy).
“Today, the Waffle House system is more than 1,900 locations in 25 states. All open 24-hours a day, seven days a week,” the Waffle House website states.
Waffle House has operated since 1955, when Joe Rogers Sr. and Tom Forkner decided to open a 24-hour, sit-down restaurant for their friends and neighbors in Georgia, focused on people on both sides of the counter, according to their website.
A representative from Waffle House could not be immediately reached for comment.
