A local Whataburger franchise is looking to redevelop a now-closed Applebees in West Jacksonville, located at 6251 103 3rd St.

At the beginning of the year, Silvercreek Group LLC announced it would be opening 12 new Jacksonville-area Whataburger restaurants by year-end 2027, according to a press release. At the time, the franchise group announced its first franchise-owned restaurants would be coming to 8325 Southside Boulevard and 105 Cbl Drive. Now, the group has announced plans to redevelop the space for a 76-seat, 5,000-square-foot restaurant and drive-thru on 1.7 acres, according to Jacksonville Daily Record.

“We’re excited to partner with Silvercreek to bring more of our signature bold flavors and original recipes to our Jacksonville-area fans,” Ed Nelson, Whataburger president and CEO, said earlier this year in a press release. “We look forward to serving this thriving community for many years to come.”

While Silvercreek Group LLC is significantly adding to the area’s footprint, Whataburger is planning to open several new corporate-owned sites in the area, adding locations in the following months at 179 Village Commons Drive, 11559 Atlantic Boulevard, and 10600 San Jose Boulevard. These new locations will have a significant economic impact in the Jacksonville area, bringing over 600 jobs to the community.

“This is an exciting time for us as a new Whataburger franchise partner,” said Markus Garnett, Silvercreek Group LLC key operator. “This collaboration has been many years in the making, and we’re thrilled to expand this iconic brand’s presence across northeast Florida.”
