On Wednesday, June 14, Whataburger will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate its first St. Augustine restaurant, which opened this past March. The event will take place at 9:00 a.m. at 179 Village Commons Dr.
“It’s been exciting to serve up all of Whataburger’s favorites and customizable creations to our new fans,” said Operating Partner Michele Velez in a statement. “As we officially celebrate our first St. Augustine restaurant, we want to extend our gratitude to the city and the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce for their support, while recognizing our Family Members who work diligently each day to represent the Whataburger brand. This restaurant is just the beginning as we continue to invest in this thriving community.”
As part of its ongoing community involvement and commitment, the event will include the presentation of a $1,000 donation to Investing in Kids (INK!), an education nonprofit organization supporting the St. Johns County school district. The contribution is part of Whataburger Feeding Student Success, a program focusing on charitable giving at the intersection of food insecurity and education. The program’s initiatives also include seven Whataburger Resource Rooms on college campuses, the Whataburger Feeding Student Success Scholarship, and partnering with local schools on education and hunger awareness programs.
Whataburger is open 24/7, 364 days a year (closed Christmas Day), with breakfast served from 11 p.m. to 11 a.m.
