Known for its “American BBQ that fuzes with Latin ingredients,” Humo Barbecue built a steady following in its first home at the Gambit Bar on West Sunset Road. After ownership changed of the building changed, however, the brand was forced to close suddenly.

“We’re facing unexpected challenges as we bid farewell to our current space at the Gambit Bar,” the restaurant posted on its Facebook page in February. “Your support has been our strength, and we’re actively seeking a new home. Stay tuned for updates as we embark on this journey together. Thank you for being the heartbeat of Humo Barbecue!”

And finally there’s good news: a new location has been secured! Humo BBQ will reopen at 3720 E Sunset Road, near the intersection with North Sandhill Road, in a 3,330-square-foot space not far from the original location.

“We first opened in the old spot back in 2023, so after a pretty good turnout, we were able to get a good jumpstart,” owner Tino Rodriguez told What Now on Wednesday regarding the new location.

The new location will offer the same popular Mexicue that regulars loved in the Gambit Bar space, with its selection of American-style barbecue, tacos, and of course its brisket.
